2020 Ford Kuga: Platform, Styling
The Ford Kuga underwent a deep modernization for the new
generation version. Ford started the transformation of the fast-selling Kuga
with the use of the new C2 platform which is the base of the Ford Focus. The
new platform was developed with the efficiency in mind and as Ford claims cuts
the process of designing a new model up to 20 percent. The modern design also
allows the electrification of the range and Ford fits the new Kuga with hybrid
powertrains. There are more gains from this and despite being larger the new
Kuga is about 200 pounds lighter than the previous generation. The redesigned
Kuga is 89 mm longer and 44 mm wider while riding on 20 mm longer wheelbase.
The styling of the new model is also impacted by the new
proportions and as Ford’s designer sad it allowed more defined wheel arches.
The overall styling of the model is also smoother and more aerodynamic in
contrast to the angular and masculine style of the previous generation.
Ford says all Kuga models will come with alloy wheels, LED
daytime running lights, body-color mirrors, front skid plate and rear diffuser.
The ST-Line models will get gloss-black treatment of the grille and rear
diffuser combined with unique 18-inch alloy wheels. Adding to this model look
will also be twin exhaust outlets and a roof-mounted spoiler. The range-topping
version will define its look with a satin chrome finish applied on the grille,
bumpers and roof rails.
The interior of the Kuga is familiar for those who peeked
inside the new Focus. The dash comes with a floating center display and dynamic
The entry-level version will have analog dials but for more
money buyers will be able to switch to the 12.3-inch digital instrument
