Buick’s mid-size crossover SUV, the Envision seats five people and offers plenty of features for the money. However, with additional options, the price climbs fast but the things will be slightly better for the 2019 model year. The 2019 Buick Envision enters the fourth model year since the 2016 launch and the time is for the refresh.
What is important to say first, the China-sourced crossover will cost up to $2, 000 less than the version it replaces but will also add some worthy upgrades. The 2019 model gets revised styling but also brings new 9-speed transmission and torquier 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine. Changes are less noticeable inside but you will get the new Envision with the latest tech and safety features. The trim options will again include the base, Preferred, Essence, Premium and Premium II options.
2019 Buick Envision: Fresher Styling
The Buick Envision is the pleasing crossover with the look balancing between conservative and modern. The front looks very similar to all Buicks while the profile and rear add more dynamic to the sheet metal.
The 2019 Buick Envision gets some styling tweaks but the model doesn’t look much different. The grille design is refreshed and fits with other newer models with the added chromed wing. The headlights also exhibit revised styling and come as the HID or LED units. The sheet metal continues in the same form but the three-shield brand offers new alloy wheels design.
Inside the cabin, the new Envision isn’t so new as it brings just a few hidden upgrades. Buick claims that new seat heaters are faster and also comes with the ion ionizer.
All Envisions include standard infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and Android Auto and Apple Car Play capabilities. The Envision is also the Top Safety pick and offer systems such as the rearview camera, park assist, 10 airbags, etc. as standard equipment. However, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring etc. remains optional.
2019 Buick Envision: Powertrains
The engine options for the 2019 Buick Envision remains two four-cylinder units. The base 2.5-liter non-turbo four-cylinder engine stays in the same form. This engine makes 197 hp and torque 192 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, Buick continues to offer a six-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel drive is standard with this engine and all-wheel drive optional.
The turbocharged Envision comes with the 2.0-liter turbo-4. For the new model year, this unit makes 35 lb-ft more for the total of 295 lb-ft. The horsepower number remains at the previous version 252 hp. However, Buick now pairs this engine with the new 9-speed automatic transmission. With the turbo engine under the hood, all Envision models have all-wheel drive.
2019 Buick Envision: Arrival, Price
The refreshed 2019 Buick Envision will go on sale later in the year. The price range will start about $2,000 lower than the current version. The high-end Premium II version will now cost $44, 600.
